THE SMOOTHIE

 

The Smoothie is my mainstay. It is chock full of healthy protein, collagen, veggies and low glycemic fruit. It’s super easy to make. Only problem is that the ingredients are pricey. To make The Smoothie, simply toss all of the ingredients listed below into your blender and mix. You will see very quickly if your blender is up to the task. You may have to blend twice, which is fine. If the blender is struggling, add more liquid. The measurements below are approximate - you can experiment with proportions and amounts so that you end up with a yummy, fruity, satisfying serving. Once you get the hang of this, you will experiment and add other ingredients you like.

 

  • 1 scoop of Ancient Nutrition Bone Broth Protein Powder (I like vanilla - and don’t worry, this sounds gross but is delicious - good for joint, gut, skin, brain health)

  • 1 scoop of Collagen peptides  (good for hair, skin, tendons, joints)

  • 1/8 cup yogurt (I use coconut yogurt but plain greek yogurt is fine if you’re ok with dairy. Just do not use a sweetened yogurt - so many are - so check labels carefully)

  • Around 1/2 a cup or more of coconut water and or coconut milk (or another milk - almond, oat). You can also use plain old water.

  • 1/4 cup each of frozen organic blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and then just a tiny bit of blackberries, pomegranate, pineapple (use pineapple sparingly - it’s high in sugar but very good for you)

  • 1/4 cup each frozen organic spinach & cauliflower. You can also use fresh or frozen kale or spinach (don’t worry - you won’t taste them. The veggies are non-negotiable - they add great smoothy texture and excellent nutrients)
